Have you guys heard? We bought a television! It's giant, at least compared to our previous television, which was purchased in 2000. It's also flat! And fancy! And I blame it all on Nintendo and Brand About Town who surprise me with exciting Wii games. It was actually the day that Donkey Kong Country Returns arrived on our doorstep (in a giant crate with bananas!) that Will finally said, "that's it, we need a TV" and drove himself to Costco, squeezed a TV box into our Honda, and had it set up in no time.
I've been fortunate to try a number of new games and I'd love to make some recommendations of my favorites--either for yourself or for the people on your holiday shopping list.
Just Dance is my favorite, favorite game. Although I haven't yet tried Just Dance 2 (it's on my wish list), I am pretty sure it is equally fun. I've taken this game to a number of parties in the last month and it has been a total hit. Basically, a person on the screen does the dance moves, which you replicate while holding the Wii controller. You earn points for doing the moves correctly. There's also a Just Dance Kids.
I got a sneak preview of this game during a trip to Nintendo Headquarters in October (Nintendo had a whole room decorated as Kirby's World). This is, by far, the cutest game I've played, full of pastel colors, animated yarn, and textile backgrounds. A second player can be Prince Fluff and tag along to help Kirby through Patch Land. Mine came wrapped in felt with pink stitching--if you plan to give the game as a gift, this is an adorable way to wrap it!
I actually got to try out this game, before it was released, at Nintendo Headquarters. A bunch of fabulous ladies and I had a blast trying out some of the 80 mini games that comprise the experience. This is a great game for families, as it allows for up to four players and provides a lot of social interaction during game play. Mine came with a disco ball!
Donkey Kong and his trust sidekick, Diddy Kong, are back! In Donkey Kong Country Returns, Donkey Kong Island is being controlled by a group of evil Tiki Tak Tribes. The animals in Donkey Kong Island have raided Donkey Kong's Banana Hoard and stolen his stash of bananas--and he wants them back! Like Kirby's Epic Yarn, the game allows for cooperative play so that skilled and novice players can play together.
Check back soon for my favorite DS games. Happy shopping!
Can I be Prince Fluff when we visit? Because, really, after a glass of wine I think I would make a killer Prince Fluff...
