This is a sponsored review by BlogHer and V8 V-Fusion + Tea.
First, a confession: I don’t like tomatoes.Growing up, we always had V-8 in the fridge, the original V-8 in the can, and I never drank even a sip of the stuff. My mom and sister both regularly enjoyed the traditional V-8 to get extra servings of vegetables, but I steered clear. It looked so full of tomatoes.
You might be wondering, then, what I could possibly have been thinking when I agreed to sample and review the new V-8 V-Fusion + Tea. I’ll admit, I was a little apprehensive (would it taste, you know, all tomato-y?). My sister has been suggesting for a couple of years that I try some of V-8's new products, promising that they tasted tomato-less. (I also don’t like fish and people often say that the fish they order “doesn’t taste fishy,” which fools me into trying a bite. But you know, fish always tastes fishy. Always. It is fish after all.) In any event, while I trust my sister, I never took a chance on a bottle of V-8 V-Fusion or V-8 V-Fusion + Tea because I didn’t want to spend $3.99 on a bottle of juice that tasted like a tomato.
When the big box of V-8 V-Fusion + Tea arrived on my doorstep, I hesitantly pulled the bottles out and set them on the counter. They didn’t look like tomato juice. I opened the Raspberry Green Tea. It didn’t smell like tomato juice. I filled a glass with ice and poured myself some of the beverage. It didn’t taste like tomato juice. In fact it was delicious. I poured myself another glass.
Let the record show: this is not your mom’s V-8.
Let the record also show: my sister was right.
I sampled all three flavors—Raspberry Green Tea, Pomegranate Green Tea, and Pineapple Mango Green Tea—and they are light, sweet, and refreshing. Each glass provides a serving of fruits and vegetables and has just 50 calories. Plus, you get the antioxidant power of green tea and there is no added sugar. And, I promise, not even a hint of tomato (not that you likely care as much as I do).
I’ll admit, I was surprised, pleasantly so, and I am loving having a new low-calorie, nutritional option. I think I’ll keep a bottle at work for a light afternoon refresher and another at home for evenings on the patio. It’s a very versatile drink—I even had a glass of the Pineapple Mango this morning with my pumpkin pancakes.

I do not usually care for cold soups but I tried the gazpacho when I was 28 (I had never had it before). I was out of town and It was so hot outside. Most everyone ordered this soup for lunch and it was delicious. I have since made gazpacho every summer .

For me it's an even tie between Pomegranate and Raspberry!
Posted by: M.A. | November 22, 2010 at 11:38 AM
Ohhhh you make me want to give this a try. I tried V8 once and it was super duper tomato-ish and I never looked back, but this tea fusion sounds divine. Let's see.... something I tried and was pleasantly surprise, I'm going to say Laser Tag. I get a bit anxious about people chasing me so I was definitely hesitate but I tried it not wanting to be a spoiled sport and boy was it fun ;) hehe got rid of a lot of pent of aggression i'd say! thank you for the opportunity and the lovely blog missy xoxo

I grew up preferring pineapple juice to all others, especially at breakfast. The V-8 Pineapple Mango fusion is definitely a step up to regular pineapple juice, as much as I enjoy the regular juice.

I'd try Pineapple Mango. We recently stopped at a Dried Fruit Stand on a CA highway where you could sample almost everything. I loved the Pango, which was Mango infused with pineapple juice. Sounds just like your flavor and it was delicious.

I'm with you - never could stomach the regular V8 juice because of the tomatoes. It's the same reason why I don't like Bloody Marys. That being said, I am also not a flavored tea kind of girl (and even though I'm from the south, I don't like sweetened tea), but you inspired me to possibly try one of these, especially since there is no sugar.
When it comes to food, I'm actually pretty picky. The last thing that I can remember trying, just knowing that I was going to hate it, but ended up LOVING, was guacamole. I've always hated it. .. have been forced on more than one occasion to try it, only to be left gagging. It's not just the taste, but also the texture that gets me. Then, I took a client to lunch one day at Rosa Mexicano, where they are famous for their tableside-prepared guacamole. When they asked if we wanted some, my client said yes. In that given situation, there was no way that I could say no, or not at least try it and pray that I would not wind up gagging in front of my client. Turns out, I loved it so much that I think I ate more than my share of the bowl, and then proceeded to smear some on my Queso Burger as well. After that visit, I began to crave the stuff. I still don't like all guacamoles, but have discovered that I do like it when it's of the "chunky" variety with tomatoes and onions in it. Yum! Great. . . now I'm craving guacamole again.

I have tried a few of the V8 fusions and found them to be a little too flavorful for me. I am looking foward to trying the new teas, would like to try both the raspberry and pomegrante!
I don't like tomatos either and can't imagine drinking the original V8 veggie juice. Gives me the willies even thinking about it! ;)
