Oh, didn't they tell you? Computer warranties ALWAYS expire the same week, if not the same day, as a computer break down. We've had it happen twice at our house...

I work in Apple-like retail so I know the ins and outs. If you want really really good service call 1-800-800-2775 that's AppleCare for higher education (much much higher quality workers) and explain to them your issue, especially since it broke down the day your warranty expired they'd probably make an exception for you. Just be nice, but assertive, on the phone

Wow! What craziness with the timing. Very nice of them to extend you an extra day. (External hard drive, huh? I don't have one of those, either...)

omg, that is awful :-( at least they'll repair it.

I am religious about my external these days, to the extent that I don't even delete pics off my camera until after I can back up stuff to my external drive. I've got two externals, actually. Definitely good to get in the habit of backing up frequently.

I feel your pain. I now back up EVERYTHING once a month to an external drive!

Yeah my hard drive crashed when my warranty went up :/ Janet did you hear any clicking noises from the hard drive? If not there still may be a way to save it. Did Apple try to do anything with the hard drive?

wow.....just read the update...that is awesome! i love apple

Shit, Janet. That just sucks! I'm glad they extended the warranty though. xo

That's great that they extended the warranty! K bought a Time Capsule for us so we can back up EVERYTHING - I'm terrified of losing my hard drive (again)!
