It's Dr. Seuss' Birthday! When I was in junior high school I wrote a paper on Dr. Seuss. Back in those days, I actually had to type the paper on a typewriter and I didn't have Google to assist. A few fun facts from my stellar research:
+ Dr. Seuss' first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was rejected by 27 editors before it was finally published in 1937.
+ The first recorded instance of the word “nerd” is in If I Ran the Zoo, published in 1950.
+ Somebody bet Dr. Seuss that he couldn't write a book with 50 words or less. The result: Green Eggs and Ham, which uses only 50 words.
