Party People
Despite the fact that I was less informed this election than I have ever been since the day I turned 18, I did my civic duty and voted after hastily researching everything on the ballot half an hour before I went to the polling place. I voted almost straight party ticket, not wanting to take any chances, and I did not vote for the things on the ballot of which I had no knowledge. I can see how people who are uninformed might vote for the person with the most famous sounding name, which also leads me to believe that my husband, William Wallace, could win an election on name recognition alone.
Will and I went to the polling place just in the nick of time tonight, mere minutes before the lady running our polling place--a lady wearing rolled up sweats and a Snoop Doggy Dogg Concert Tee--hollered out into the street, "The polls are closed! The polls are closed!" She then took down the American flag, which was identifying the polling site, and laid it on the sidewalk to roll it up. God Bless the USA.

Ah the Antelope Valley, how I miss thee. I would vote for Will for anything really, not just because of his name, but just because he is awesome like that.

I am a very little girl and I have to take down two very large flags, by myself most nights. If they touch the ground I get a write up. Snoop Doggy Dogg would probably roll up that flag and smoke it; other americans -especially those at an election site- should learn to keep our symbol of freedom out of the dirt.

---But Benji's right. I would probably vote for Will over most of the goofballs running today. At least he's a cool goofball.

Just think if you move to Texas for law school one of the names on the ballots for governor will probably be Kinky. I think he said he was going to run again when the time come That alone is worth moving down here!
I'm glad you went to vote!

Did she look like she was over the age of 72? I heard the stat last night that the average poll volunteer is 72, which I would totally believe after my experience yesterday.
I was trying to think of something clever to say about the whole flag incident, but I'm still kind of speechless. Did she miss her entire elementary school career where we are taught the basics about respect for the flag? That's just sketchy.

Glad to know I'm not the only one upset about the flag on the ground. I learned how to fold a flag when I was in 6th grade and got the privilege of putting it up and taking it down at school. She couldn't have asked one single person standing in line to help her fold it?
I wanted to work the polls in my precinct (I'm 43), but they needed a Republican (I am conservative) and I had voted in the Dem. primary (I didn't want Harold Ford Jr's idiot brother going to the House of Rep if the Dems won, which I knew they would) so they wouldn't let me. I don't know why they have to fill those posts by party. Seems kind of silly. I think it's mostly retired people because younger people aren't willing to take a day off work to do it. That's sad.
